Leontyne Price, soprano, has a whole CD of patriotic songs including the Star Spangled Banner and I believe it's called "God Bless America". It even has ..*wince* "Blowin' in the Wind".

How can I help my six year old grandson pursue his intrest in Opera?

My six year old grandson tries to sing opera. He started this about two years ago. Recently, his mom and I were listening to Luciano Pavarotti via computer, and my grandson kept telling everyone "shh, I'm trying to listen to this". Afterward he asked very seriously, "Mom! When can we go to the opera place?" Now the problem is we live in a rural area in Missouri. Besides buying him opera artist CD's, how can I help him pursue this intrest? We have extreemly modest income.

How can I help my six year old grandson pursue his intrest in Opera?home theater

Some opera companies have a division called Education and Outreach where a small group of singers and a pianist will tour to elementary schools to perform opera.

A school's PTA (or parent organization) will raise money or seek a state grant to pay for the performance. Since you live in Missouri, your best bet might be to contact Union Avenue Opera or Opera Theatre of St. Louis, both in St. Louis, to see if they offer a touring outreach production. They should be extremely helpful in bringing live opera to your district or certainly can point you in the right direction.

Also, I am not sure if company's will even allow a 6 year old to see most grand opera's (the Pavarotti ones contain adult subject matter) but he can certainly see most light operettas.

Below is a link to almost every accredited opera house in the US, you might have one closer to you, that may have a touring program.

Other very inexpensive resources for classical music appreciation: university/college productions and voice recitals.

make the long trip to the opera as a birthday, christmas gift for him. continue to buy the cds and dvds. talk to a local music teacher---in school and out(freelance)---they may have a few ideas as well. he may be willing to try to "earn" some of the money for these things with a few chores.

try music lessons--voice or instrument
If you go to church, get him into the choir if you can. If you have no facilities available for him to go and watch the opera, rent videos and keep buying the music. Also, can he take music lessons or voice lessons? That might either make or break his interest right there.
Whether his interest is in listning or performing opera, a familiarity in foreign language is desirable. Italian or French would be best, but any European language - German, Spanish, Latin, Russian would broaden his appreciation for musical communication.

Need a list of good opera!!!?

my mum is having her birthday soon and shes wanted a cd full of opera greats, so if u have any in mind could you please list them.i am looking for songs by Andrea Bocelli, Pavarotti, anything in this type of genre. thanks so much

Need a list of good opera!!!?amc theater

Andrea Bocelli has a beautiful voice, but he is not an opera singer.

If you want variety, there are a number of compilation CD's on Amazon (The #1 Opera Album,The #1 Soprano Album (I have this, it's great!) Most Famous Opera Arias, The Best of Italian Opera, etc) that will have famous aria's by sung by famous singers. There are tenor albums as well if you're looking for Pavarotti, Corelli and Carerras voices.

There are so many great opera's out there! If you want a soundtrack, I really like Mozarts - Don Giovanni, Cosi Fan Tutte, Le Nozze de Figaro and Die Zauberfl?te are all very accessible and contain famous arias.

There are also classics like La Boheme, Turandot, Carmen, anything by Verdi, the list goes on.

If your mom doesn't have much experience with opera, I would maybe buy 2 CD's if you can- 1 compilation to get an all around feel of what's out there and 1 soundtrack to hear the songs in context.

Paul Pots? Opera?

My mom has suddenly gotten into this opera singer guy. Im trying to find something for her for xmas, she has his cd already. What are some other opera singers or other artists that she might like?

Paul Pots? Opera?dream theater

I hate to suggest this and make these singers any money (because I personally think they suck), but perhaps she'll also like Il Divo or Andrea Bocelli. I would go a more traditional route and perhaps pick up a Mario Lanza CD (the widely available "When Day is Done" album might be a good choice). Mario Lanza was a much better singer than Paul Potts, Il Divo, or Andrea Bocelli, but he sang in the 50s so it's a tad different from the modern crap, but he had a true tenor voice. Giving a listen to all the singers I suggested on YouTube wouldn't be a bad idea and you can go from there. Good luck.

Samsung K3 - how can I get the folder name in Windows Explorer to show as an album name?

My Samsung K3 is working fine. I have my music organized on my PC in folders. For example, I've ripped music from a CD to Windows Explorer; I gave the folder the name of the album. From my opera CD "La Traviata" I have a folder called "La Traviata" with many tracks as separate files in that folder. When I use Windows Explorer to move the files to the K3, the album title is stated as "Unknown". Any ideas how to get the album name in? None of my CDs are what might be called "popular", so they won't be found online.

Thanks

Samsung K3 - how can I get the folder name in Windows Explorer to show as an album name?performing arts center

Right click a folder and you can rename it.

If that music is attached to a music program, though, the music program wont know where that music is after you change the folder name and you will have to retell the music program where the songs are.

What music player if any are you using to transfer those songs to your samsung? You have to change the albums name, not the folders name. Put that song into a music player like windows media player or itunes and change the album info there.

I'd recommend the second CD, since the first is a 2 disc set and why pay for two discs when you only want three arias. Also, I'm a bit of a Corelli whore so there's that. And as a last note, I have no idea who's singing the arias on the he third CD, so I would DEFINITELY not buy that one. I hope this helped!

These are each from different operas, and it is not likely that you will find all of them on one cd, even if the cd is a collection of arias.

Vesti la guigga is from Pagliacci by Leoncavallo

Nessun dorma is from Puccini's Turandot

Un bel di vedremo is from Madama Butterfly by Puccini.

Disappearing Dvorak opera?!~!?

I heard the overture to Kate %26amp; The Devil on the radio. I loved it!!

Like many pieces of music that immediately enthrall and enamor me, it was the work of Antonin "Lights Out" Dvorak. Oh, and how I loved it. God help the individual or group that ever tries to get between me and Dvorak. I mean, we're talking big fisticuffs there.

But I can't find Kate and the Devil anywhere on the internet but WikiPedia, which calls the overture"famous." If I search for "The Devil and Kate" I can find some really foreign CD on Amazon that's expensive and I dont' think has the overture on it....

... buttoher than that, nothing! Nothing on YouTube. Nothing on Amazon. Nothing that will let me listen, or even buy! And I want my effin' Dvorak!

Can you, or anyone you know, point me in the direction of someplace online (or off, I don't nkow, anywhere!) where I can listen, hear, or buy?

So you like Dvorak, don't you ? And you are out to find his music and especially The Devil and Kate (unbelievable, I am so ignorant that I thought that listening to Rusalka was all it took to be an Advanced Dvorak's Operas lecturer). And where are you searching it ? On the net. That's where things happen, and then we get upset when someone tries to make extra-money of our utopia that a fingerclick gives wisdom.

I'll tell you a short and unimportant story. At school, a teacher brought a record of New World Symphony (they begin to lure kids in with programme music, Vivaldi, Rimski, Moonlight) it was somewhere in the early 70's. I started Dvorak there, advancing meant to buy a new record for the astronomic equivalent of about 1 $, or having an opportunity to listen to a concert, or tune on a radio and be so lucky to find Anton, reading borrowed books, listening to people you met in the street who used to talk music instead of soccer (existed !) and by the way threw here and there a chunk of Advanced Dvoraks. Months could pass in between such events. Only 5 years ago, when I had a business chance to see Prague, I thought I had reached a plateau. And now I discover I missed Kate.

OK, move on. Go to a music shop, look for a good edition and compare, listen a bit, and possibly walk, out and back. There's people, birds, life. They are directing your fingers and disguised as good samaritans they're taking you from the first to the second life, where, rest assured, in a while there'll be no Dvoraks.
OK - here is your musicological info. Now you can use it to search for what you wish. I'd try Czech labels. Try the stores and sites of the Czech opera companies - even the Met in NYC might have a link for you. Try the NPR and PBS links - or sites like Jim Schweda and KUSC - he eats this stuff for breakfast.

I have a Phantom of the Opera question - for people who have done the show or have casted it?

I was wondering how old the part of Meg Giry is. On the CD, it sounds like she's about 15, but I didn't know. I'm about 13, and I can sing the part. I was also wondering, does Meg have to be on point? I have ballet training, but I am not on point. Thank you!

I have a Phantom of the Opera question - for people who have done the show or have casted it?paramount theater

meg is ussually cast at the same age range as Christine so it changes but she should be young and a bit naive.... as for being on pointe the ballet scenes call for her to be a classic degas girl (check out some of his dancer paintings) so yes she should be a strong dancer and the big companies always have her on pointe

I have a Phantom of the Opera question - for people who have done the show or have casted it?theatre opera theater

Honey, the part is probably the most demanding female lead vocally/physically written in the last fifty years. Meg has to do the chorus numbers for the ballet scene, I believe she is on pointe. Sarah Brightman only did seven performances a week, most stars do eight. She had FOUR hours of warmup and coaching a day to stay limber enough AND sing it.....so if you're asking for community theater, go for it....if you're thinking of any Equity related tour......you've got about 10-15 years before your body would be able to handle all that abuse.
Meg is a simpler role. Most likely, she will not be dancing en pointe to add emphasis to Christine, the main character, who will certainly be dancing en pointe. I'd say she was 15 or 16, but there is no real age that is described that I know of. That can certainly be achieved by someone your age if you have the talent. One production I have seen casted a 17 year old girl as Meg, and she did a lovely job. I don't think your age is the biggest concern, for Meg is not a central character. If you have the voice, skills, talent, and maturity I believe you could be Meg!

Good luck!
Meg is supposed to have a light voice to counter act the power in Christine and definitely Carlotta's voices. Meg's look is about 16-18. The actress' who play her range from 18-late 20's. And yes, you do have to be en pointe to play her. You have to make it through a dance audition before you can sing for Meg.

If you have not seen his audition on Britons Got Talent, (the English version of American Idol), go to YOUTUBE, put Paul POtts in the search, go to his audition tape and lose your mind and soul in what happend. Everyone was sceptical when he said he was going to sing opera. Watch their faces as he starts to sing and the fact that they are in tears by the end. Have you ever heard of the East Village Opera Company?

I heard about them from some friends today. They are great! I do mean awesome. Check out their website:http://www.eastvillageoperacompany.com/d...

I plan to order their new CD. I hope to someday attend one of their concerts. I'm in the process of listening to some of their music. You'll love it.

Have you ever heard of the East Village Opera Company?home theater system

I disagree with Wotan. To me this is as classical as Schoenberg making arrangements of other music, or Mahler orchestrating Beethoven and Schumann symphonies, or Liszt making piano reductions of other pieces. Yes, there are some "pop" elements in there, such as a drumbeat and the other "pop" instrumentations but the melodies were created by classical composers. It's certainly arguable, and maybe it's better defined as "crossover" (even though I once heard an interview with one of the members of that group saying he doesn't like the term) but I have no problem with a question about that group being in this forum. Well that's my $.02

Have you ever heard of the East Village Opera Company?the grand theater opera theater

Did you assign your question to this category? It's in the wrong section. I checked out your posting, and it's a "pop" band, doing their version of an operatic aria.

It does not qualify as classical music.

Wotan
No, but I will check them out.

Should I find out the story before watching an opera?

I'm going to watch Die Fledermaus live next month. Should I watch a DVD of it, listen to the CD or read the story before attending?

Should I find out the story before watching an opera?violin

I have found it helpful to do this. I read about Madame Butterfly and it made the opera more enjoyable. Good luck.

Should I find out the story before watching an opera?chinese theater opera theater

Don't waste your time. Find a fat rich girl with doting parents to explain the special love she has of opera and how it speaks to her and then you won't care to watch or listen to Die Fledermaus next month. You should spend your time reading Dostoyevsky or trying to get laid.
No, if you watch the dvd now, it wouldnt feel the same when you see it live.
if i were you i'd read the story of the opera before going to it then you'll know what's happening in the real opera
ya it is very important and make u enjoy opera most
Yes,

If you know the plot and story you can then truly enjoy the operatic music, and see the interactiosn between the charactors. By knowing the plot you can focus on the sub-text and intracacies of the play, thus increasing your enjoyment without loosing the main point.

The con to knowing the plot is that you know the story, and that is what a play is all about- to tell a story.
Optional, if you understand the language in which it is to be sung.
read the story first. Later, enjoy the opera.
It would help allot. I think that even if they were singing in English... I still wouldn't understand the story. Reading it would be the way to go.
Unless you speak the language, I would definitly make sure you read the story before you see the opera. While I doubt you would be totally lost, it can really help the experience to know a little more specifically what is going on. If you speak German however, I would go and experience it as it was meant to be experienced.

Bossa Nova CD recommendations?

I'm curious about Bossa Nova, but I don't know where to start. My usual tastes in music are Classical, Opera, and occasionally Jazz (Oscar Peterson, to be specific). Which Bossa Nova albums do you think I might enjoy?

Thanks for answering.

Bossa Nova CD recommendations?musicals

Ow, find any cds with astrud gilberto and or stanley turrentine/stan gets.

Shirley Scott would be great too (be aware there are lots of Shirley Scotts out there doing music, only a few get into instrumental bossa nova you can lounge or dance 2)

There are 2 many different tracks spread over numerous of albums.

You like tracks like Aqua De Beber?

Maria Quiet? One Note Samba? Then aforementioned artists are what you need.

Other tracks I personally like are:

*Howard Roberts - Dirty Bossa Nova

*Julie London - Fly Me To The Moon

*Walter Wanderly - Summer Samba

*Shirley Scott - Noche Azul

And "Bola Sete - Bettina" wich is bossa nova but has this movie like feel and lots of relaxed spanish guitarring..

E Bass uncluded...

Need name of a musical piece any one know it?

I keep hearing this choral piece. It reminds me of O Fortuna from Carmina Burana yet it's definately not that piece as i own the whole opera on cd. I've heard it used mostly to promote tv shows on Cartoon Network and once on TBS i've been looking for it for years. Anyone have an idea on what it is or can you offer hints as to what you think it may be? I mean being a choral piece i wouldn't exactly be bale to post lyrics.

Do you think Eminem is humorous?

I like all music, I'm not much into rap but I like Eminem because I think he's very talented and puts his heart and soul into what he writes. I also like his sense of humor does that make me twisted....lol.

I know he's not the greatest influence for kids but I'm talking consenting adults here.

I'm very eclectic in my tastes; I own Kenny Rogers, Opera and Classical CD's, lots of country, gospel and also Eminem...lol

I usually listen to the Pogues, liz phair, melissa etheridge, stevie nicks, the radio....so you see I am not a rap fan. Eminim is different. But I do NOT think parents of young kids should let them listen to his music....

Deserted island, alone, rest of your long life: what 10 music works OR single composer would you wan

Thinking about expanding my music library---wanted other inputs....esp. classical, jazz, opera, but will consider all types EXCEPT rap/hiphop.

Your choices on the island will be the ONLY pieces of music you will EVER hear again in your life, except for what you sing/play solo. Choose carefully; we're talking 30+ years here!

"Work"--an album (double CD OK), complete opera or symphony, collection of musical pieces NORMALLY PERFORMED TOGETHER to make a coherent whole, etc. (You music ppl know the fancy terms.)

Or, if 10 musical works are too tough to choose, which single musical composer's works would you pick to take along, given that you will hear no other music for rest of your life? And why that particular composer?

Yes, it's a lot of work. I'm hoping music lovers will put in their 2 cents worth and share, and not be concerned abt the points. (But if you know any spectacularly good covers of piece X, I'd be grateful for the tipoff.) Thanks!

I think they are referring to sales as a % of the same month in the previous year. For example. If sales in Jan. 2005 = $100, and sales in Jan 2006 = 110, the % for Jan 2006 would be 10% (ie + 10% over the previous year). If sales in Jan 2006 = 95, this would be shown as -5%

check that you have not got a cd in the drive. sometimes that is the cause of that message.

next, check the bios to see if it is detecting the drive.

next, if it is, you may have to do a repair on your installation - usually from a hidden partition on dells.

if the bios isnt seeing the drive, check whether the cable has popped out or the drive is out of its socket. dells do that sometimes. take the cover off the bottom to expose the harddrive and check the seating.

if it is none of these, your harddrive may be dead.

dell have a pretty good support desk to talk you through all this.

good luck
You need to reinstall Windows. Usually Dell sends system recovery disks with their computers. Try the windows restore disk.
By your information the problem found is that there is no Operating system in your laptop. Please install Operating System before using laptop.
Operating system not found is a serious problem, unless you have a diskette in a floppy drive and the PC is trying to boot to that, but you said it was a laptop so I doubt that is the problem. Laptops usually don't have built in floppy drives anymore.

This can be caused from hard drive failure, corruption of the master boot record (MBR) or corrupted system files in the operating system.

Yes you could and should try booting from the windows CD, but I would recommend you take it to a professional or risk file loss.

If you get banned from an IRC chat for evading ban, is it a long term ban like as if you get autokic

What's the deal that if you evade a ban, you get banned again? Why do you even get permanently banned from the serebiiforums if you pure troll twice or evade a ban once? How do they even check that was you? Look. Max and Tsutomu are 2 different people. How can they say that Max is Max and Tsutomu is Max as well? It makes no sense. I was in the SPP chat room and Wifi Chat last Friday and I got kicked and banned from Erik_Destler. All I was doing was asking a question. Why do I get banned like that? And what's wrong with impersonating members? Why does oper impersonation get you banned from IRC or to leave you banned from a forum for a long time after trolling and spamming? What would happen if they didn't ban that person for impersonating ops? Would it still continue then or would he have learned his lesson by then after the enough warnings they gave him about it?

If you get banned from an IRC chat for evading ban, is it a long term ban like as if you get autokicked?theater seating

So many questions!

Q: If you get banned from an IRC chat for evading ban, is it a long term ban like as if you get autokicked?

A: I can only say "probably", as it will vary depending on the IRC network's policies and the staff member responsible. Usually the IRCop that sets a ban will be the one to lift it, so it may just depend on how they feel about the situation.

Q: What's the deal that if you evade a ban, you get banned again?

A: There must be a reason they don't want you on their network!

Q: Why do you even get permanently banned from the serebiiforums if you pure troll twice or evade a ban once?

A: I'm not familiar with those particular forums, but again, ban evasion is always going to get you into trouble. The time you are banned for should be used to think about what you've done and commit to improving your act before you are allowed back on. Trying to get around the ban is undermining the person who set it. Trolling is just a bad idea generally, although I admit it can be hilarious...

Q: How do they even check that was you?

A: Plenty of things can give it a way, such as your IP address, which forum administrators can see, writing style, etc.

Q: Look. Max and Tsutomu are 2 different people. How can they say that Max is Max and Tsutomu is Max as well?

A: They must have some evidence. Again, it could be that they share an IP address, or just a hunch.

Q: It makes no sense. I was in the SPP chat room and Wifi Chat last Friday and I got kicked and banned from Erik_Destler. All I was doing was asking a question. Why do I get banned like that?

A: Are you sure there wasn't more to it? Your next few questions suggest that there was.

Q: And what's wrong with impersonating members?

A: You really ought to be able to work this out for yourself. Think about this: I am sure that you have friends who you tell almost anything, and other people that you don't know who you tell very little. If someone in the latter group pretended to be someone in the former group and you didn't realise, you could tell them things that you wouldn't normally. Basically you'd behave differently. Think about how you'd feel when it turned out that you told your secrets to someone you don't like.

Q: Why does oper impersonation get you banned from IRC or to leave you banned from a forum for a long time after trolling and spamming?

A: Impersonating an IRCop is the easiest and quickest way to get yourself banned. IRCops have a lot of power and even when they aren't O:lined they still get a lot of respect that they have had to earn, and are called to deal with many difficult situations. Q: What would happen if they didn't ban that person for impersonating ops?

A: Then they would probably think that they can get away with it and keep doing it.

Q: Would it still continue then or would he have learned his lesson by then after the enough warnings they gave him about it?

A: See the previous answer. If he had stopped after the warnings, then it probably wouldn't have gone further, but it clearly did.

To conclude, you, or he, should just try and think things through a little bit and have more respect for others, particularly those with some sort of authority over you. However, you should also remember as well that there are thousands of IRC networks and forums that you could be a part of it you don't like the ones you were banned from. Be aware that they could ban you if you do the same things that got you banned on the others, though...

Classical Music Recommendations?

Until recently i have never been interested in classical music or opera. However in my old age (26) i am growing more attracted to it. Can anyone recommend a good CD to start me off. I really love opera sung by women and generally speaking i like the kind of classical that you might hear on an advert or while you're on hold on the telephone; the easy accessible stuff basically. Any advice gratefully received!

Classical Music Recommendations?theatre tickets

Judging from what you wrote you will probably like operas by Rossini (e.g. The Barber of Seville, Cindarella), Mozart (The Marriage of Figaro, Cosi fan tutte, Don Giovanni), and for intrumental music: Mozart's and Haydn's Symphonies, Vivaldi's concerti, Handel's Concerti grossi (as well as Water Music and Fireworks Music), but here is what I would do if I were you (if you really want to develop your taste for classical music):

- sign up to your local music library, preferably one with large classical CD section (e.g. in London: Barbican or Victoria Music Library, in Manchester: Central Library) - that will give you a chance to listen to different things and choose what you want to buy.

- buy yourself one of those "Good CD guides" (like the one published by Penguin) - that will help you to avoid some of those overvalued compilations which are pushed down the throats of the unsuspected public by the record companies. Having access to a music library will help you choose your recordings very carefully, and those that you buy will stay with you for the rest of your life. Buy yourself also a good concert guide, which would have some programme notes on the most popular pieces in the repertoire.

- listening to "bleeding chunks" on Classic FM is fine, as it helps you to "try before you buy", but if you decide to invest into a recording, why not buy the proper thing, a complete piece. An added bonus is usually a booklet with good background information about the pieces on the recording - something which is rare in compilations. Understanding does increase enjoyment.

- I would make my "discovery" journey through classical music in chronological order. The best starting point would probably be the end of 17th C (J.S. Bach, Handel, Vivaldi) - the beginnings of proper orchestral music. Then move on to Haydn,Mozart Beethoven, then (sorry if miss anybody important) Schubert, Rossini, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Berlioz, Chopin, Bizet, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Johann Strauss (father and son), Dvorak, Puccini, Verdi, Debussy, Ravel, Mahler, Rachmaninov, Richard Strauss, Elgar, Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Bartok, Steve Reich, John Adams. This should give you a good overview of the major pieces in the repertoire.

- go to live concerts!!! but go prepared - have a listen to at least some of the pieces and read about them before you go - that'll make huge difference. The best information on concerts in Britain one can find in BBC Music Magazine.

When you approach this take your time, do not rush, and avoid cheap stuff. It is like learning about wines - you would not go for cheap plonk (if you did you would probably be better off sticking to Coke or Pepsi...:-)), and you would taste different bottles before buying a whole crate.

Get a decent HiFi and good speakers - you would not drink a good bottle of vintage Moet %26amp; Chandon from plastic cups, would you? As a hint - I use Teac Reference 300 mini-system with Tannoy speakers (Teac is just introducing the new model MkIII and it should cost below 700 GBP).

Enjoy!!!

Greetings (from an orchestral conductor...:-))

Leslie Garret might be just what you are looking for her lady in red CD is wonderful
I got into Classical music at a late age by listening to a compilation cd called The Classic Experience. It has 33 well know pieces %26amp; has 3 other cd's in the series (I have them all).
It depends what type of classical music you like and what kind of composers and the style aswell. Well personally I love piano classical music. I always go to the library down my street and borrow Balazs Szokolay's Romantic Piano Favourite CD's. It has pieces from the different musical periods. I'm not sure of the CD but I think Johann Sebastian Bach's concertos are good to listen to, but he is in the baroque era. If you are looking for something different I recommend 20th century music. I say Maurice Ravel is the best especially his 'Pour Piano et Orchestre.' It's mad!! .
Classical music is fantastic and I, too, discovered its joys late in life. Now, with over 1000 recordings, I am in a good position to answer you. Since you love opera sung by women, there is only one answer: buy recordings of Mozart's The marriage of Figaro and Bizet's Carmen. They are the two most popular operas and also have great parts for the ladies.------Vittorio Gui's recording on the Classics For Pleasure label of Figaro is cheap but remains a top choice. The ideal Carmen is more difficult to decide upon but you will be well served by Claudio Abbado's on the DG label. Ask your music shop for these.------It is a good idea to buy whole works, and get to know them, rather than compilations full of snippets as they do not do justice to the glory that is classical music. This is especially true in opera as a compilation can never bring you the romance, story, drama and emotion that is opera.------Good luck with your new interest and my very best wishes, Philip.
Try 'Four last songs' by Richard Strauss. Beautiful female vocal, great lyrics, awesome orchestration. Moving and beautiful. Get the Gudula Janowitz version, called 'Vier letzte Lieder' on Deutsche Grammophon, conducted by Herbert von Karajan. AWESOME.
The opera LA TRAVIATA by Verdi is absolutely fabulous. Its music is unbelievably beautiful, and when I began an interest in classical music, this was the first opera I ever heard. It is still my favorite.

For instrumental or symphonic music, I'd recommend Mozart whose music is generally relaxing, and Beethoven.

ENJOY!!

See if you can find a CD by Beverly Sills. She is an extremely talented artist and a comedienne as well.
Clair de Lune by Claude Debussy is my favourite

How do you upload music onto Endless Ocean for wii?

I want to put the Jack Johnson CD on there, but how?

Please help! They have like...opera on it, and I LOVE the game, but the opera......I CAN'T STAND!

How do you upload music onto Endless Ocean for wii?opera music

First, you need to have an SD card. If you don't have one, they can be bought at most electronics stores. Next, you just put it in the reader and copy the music onto it. Then, you have to place it in the little slot on the front of the Wii. I think you go to options on the menu, and it'll be there. But, you need to have itunes or windows media player to have the files on. If you don't have either, get one.

Hope I helped.

Stop and think about what you just asked us... you used the words "great", "high quality professional", and "FREE" in the same question. High quality and free don't mix, if it's free its cuz it sucks... so just download reason or fruityloops off of limewire

What is a GREAT program for making crazy awesome high quality proffessinal rap and hip hop beats thats FREE!?amc theater opera theater

Try downloading Fruity Loops from Limewire.
First of all programs don't make beats people make beats. with out a person to control the machine it's pretty useless

Im going to tell you there is a way but its not going to be an easy process of making beats but it will get the job done.

There is a free program called audacity thats an audio editing daw like adobe audition or acid. It's legally free. if you're going to make beats in hip hop you probably are going to sample and this will allow you to chop up all of your samples the way you want. also it supports VSTs plugins(computer instruments) and many fine quality ones are out there somewhere on the internet for free.

As far as sequencing goes if you want a step sequncer style there is a watered down but suprisingly effective site where they offer one.

http://www.beaterator.com/beaterator.htm...

learn how to put your samples in and export loops and arrange your loops in audacity and you can make a good beat.

this is a 2 program solution and it will work but it don't recommend it because what you want to do is make beats listen to em and be done. this way of beats will take a while and frustrate the non patient.
Fl Studio,Reason.
i don't know if it's free, but ACID PRO is a really good sound mixing program. You can mix your beats, any sounds, and lyrics all together to make music.

Do most people only like one form of music?

I go to friends houses and go through their cd's and see mostly the same genre of music. When they come to my house, however, they are always asking "What's this?, what's that?" when they go through my cd's. I suppose if I had to take some music to a desert island, I would take punk/metal/thrash/grunge types of cd's, but I also like classical in small doses, world music in large doses, and even golden oldies get my toe to tappin. I don't care so much for country music, but I do have the Judd's first album and Rodney Crowell's "Diamonds and Dirt" album. I also have a fondness for bluegrass and opera. I really like music that I have a hard time classifying, like Leonard Cohen or Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. How about you? Do you listen to just one type of music or are you eclectic like me?

If it sounds good to me, I listen to it. As a general rule, country does not sound good.

I lean WAY more towards Alternative, Industrial, %26amp; Grunge.

But, I do enjoy some songs that fit into the Pop category.

I like R%26amp;B sometimes ,too.
My music collection is mostly indie.

I have quite a bit of ambient electronic and post-rock.

I also have Native music from around the world including, India, Turkey, Japan (some great percussion), Sweden, Ukraine, Bali, Thailand, Greece, and China, mostly on compilations.

I have the Columbia recording boxsets of Miles Davis and John Coltrane. And at least another 60 songs of jazz artists mostly from 50-70's era.

Blues from the greats like Robert Johnson, Leadbelly, Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters.

--------------------------------------...

http://downloads.pitchforkmedia.com/Beac...
All kinds, yes. Old, new, obscure, bluegrass, even some rap! shhhh... I absolutely love the blues; Howlin' Wolf was howlin' just a bit ago. I have to be in a mood for country, basically a bad mood. Spent years playing classical, and my blood is infused with it now. I'm listening to Mahler as I type this, and I think Rachmaninov is up next. I'm in a mood for this too.
I listen to every thing for Johnny Cash to Garth Brooks to Led Zeppelin to def leppard and Mettaclia to nickleback even some pop and dance music it dont like to lable my self with one kind of music just good music for jazz to metal to pop to rock
i listen to anything as long as i like it it dont matter to me

bout the genre or the artist
I'll Listen to just about anything from

Alternative, Grunge, Industrial, Metal, Classic Rock, Bluegrass, Brit invasion, Punk, Celtic, Folk, 80's (depeche mode, petshop boys, new order, Prince, ect.) A bit of Country, rap, pop, r%26amp;b, Classical (sarah Brightman, Andrea Bocelli) even disco, Dance, Techno. It all depends on my mood and activities what might be playing .
Definitely eclectic. While I do have some clearcut favorites, I appreciate all kinds of music from Acoustic to Zydeco.

I don't understand people who listen to only one genre or sometimes only ONE artist...and won't even try to give other types of music a chance! Makes no sense to me whatsoever. That's like eating the same kind of food everyday.
I'm with you on this one 8 Track, my tastes covers most genres and my collection reflects that. Gotta tell you, though; my first wife always played Cohen if she was contemplating suicide or extremely down. If I came home from work or whatever and heard Leonard playing on the stereo, I dove for cover! I don't have him in my collection.
If you see my CD collection, you'll get surprise.

I like Rock/Pop, but in my collection there are this musicians too

Come to my house. I think we'd get along just fine.
I like pretty much all music ~ I think it's hard-wired into us to like music ~ just look at the stadiums filled with people who paid top dollar to be there to enjoy the music they love.

I also enjoy being exposed to different genres ~ especially when I'm with friends that are really into it. But... when it's just me, I'm pretty happy in my *little* musical world, and tend to listen to a relatively small variety compared to what's out there.

I love space music ~ 70s rock ~ more space music ~ some grunge, some hip hop, some artists that are more 'current'.

I do like getting turned on to new stuff, tho, so Thanks! to R%26amp;P for some of that, and luckily I have teenagers in the house who keep me from becoming too much of a relic...

**Edit**

Would like to add to my list of favorites ~ bluesy, jazzy rock like the Allman Bros and Dave Matthews, and psychedelic guitar solo rock ~
Actually I think most people are probably like you and I. Personally if you looked at my Ipod or my CD collection you would see so many different genres you would be amazed. I would say I am definitely eclectic like you. lol.
I have a variety of musical tastes. Originally it was just country and bluegrass I must confess (Yeap, I am a hillbilly). But my interest has since branched out into various forms of rock and metal music as well as R%26amp;B and trip hop.
Can't speak for "most people" - like you I listen to a wide variety of music. It just depends on the time and mood! ((8T)))
Well I like metal, classical and maybe a bit of country. It's alright despite what other people say
I like a lot of different types of music although admittedly you won't find anything overly religious, country/western or bluegrass... I do have my limits.

I would say I am fairly eclectic and my collection reflects that.
Not I. I like:

Old school Punk

Pop Punk

Ska

some classic rock

Grunge

Alternative

Post-Hardcore

Metalcore/Deathcore/Grindcore

Techno/Electronica

Indie Rock

some Pop

some Rap

Electic is the way to be.
i pretty much like any thing that i can relate to or goes with my feelings, like anny thing that would go under the genre of "rock"... but i occasionally listen top this rapper dude that he is called atmospere,i think...
My play list runs from the Dead Kennedys to Apocolyptica to Kenny Rogers (in very small doses). I don't even realy like many bands never mind styles of music.
I like a lot more than one genre of music.

Most just have a major preference though. They'll listen to other styles, but they may have a genre that they'll like more than the others.

I love Jazz, Acoustic Folk, Soft Rock, Hip-Hop and Electronic music.

I'll occasionally listen to stuff like Y.K. %26amp; The Seatbelts, Quincy Jones, Air, Pink Floyd, Bloc Party, The Eagles, Andy Mckee and even Nujabes if thats what I feel like listening to.

My main preference is Metal music though...which I'll most definately take with me to a desert island. I tend to be quite the purist/elitist with this style of music too.
I am highly eclectic. If you went through my music collection you would find a mix of :~

Classic Rock *

I could probably listen to music with you for a while. I like to listen to all kinds. The only genre missing from my collection is probaby rap. I too like some stuff that everyone is like "WHO?" Even when I listen to older music (70's) I listen to stuff that was not exactly mainstream.

LOL they have to ask what my cds are mainly because they are all white label because I burn my own
My boyfriend mainly likes metal and rock etc. But he also loves jazz and acoustic guitar. He can also name you many classical composers and works. I've never met any one else with such a large taste in music as he does.
I like whatever that sounds good when it comes through my ears. =)
i usually listen to like Soufly and stuff like that but for some odd reason i like HIM

and all the oldies like zz top and poisan and ect.

Soulfly is the best band BTW!!
I only like music that hasn't come out yet.

In my opinion there is good stuff in any genre. I may not look too hard in some cases, I'm not really drawn to disco or modern pop country, but as a premise someone does it right no matter what you're talking about. With that said, I keep an open mind to stuff and though my iPod mostly consists of indie rock from the 90s to present there are splashes of all sorts of stuff.
I like just about everything except country. And, of course that has its exception which is Willie Nelson. gotta love him. Blue eyes crying in the rain, I'll never forget the first time I heard it.
I've never found a "type" of music I don't like. There are plenty of songs out there that are just rubbish. But every genre has something that appeals to me.

My biggest problem is when I'm in a mood for something specific, I have to wade through all this other stuff in my collection to get what I want.... I'm so disorganized.

Peace to you.
I can find at least a song or two I like in every genre, country not so much but I like Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. But please keep away the Phil Collins music.... haha! (((8TM)))
Maybe not quite as eclectic as you are, but I think I go fairly deep into the body of rock. I've always been focused on rock and more specifically the underground side. So, that takes golden oldies and a lot of classic rock off the menu for me. Been there, done that. I'm trying to make up for lost time with all the great music that never gets played on radio. That leaves me with punk, industrial, Goth, electronica, indie and metal.

BTW, Nick Cave is coming up with the dreaded post-punk label. I hate that term.
